One of the latest health news that I read in BBC today is that they have found a new way to “stop” premature birth. The answer is a drug used to treat cancer, Trichostatin A. The researchers are from the Newcastle University in England. Preterm labor or premature birth is also known to be one of the causes of infant death in the world. It’s hard to tell what the causes of preterm birth are but I guess all of these have something to do with the mother’s background. My sister had experienced preterm birth with her daughter, luckily the baby was strong and healthy and there was no need for incubation. My sister never really had a problem during that time, aside from early contractions. It was also a must that every pregnancy must be monitored and vitamins are taken by the mother to ensure the health of both mom and the fetus is in good hands.

Sometimes I don’t like those journalists who just deliver news without even thinking of its possible effect to people. In South Korea, suicide is considered one of the major social problems but some media reporters continue to broadcast them even the manner of the suicide causing more cases and even encouraging those with suicidal tendencies and contemplating. It was also in the news where I found about the situation of soldiers deployed to Middle East. Many of them tend to have post traumatic syndrome and stress disorder PSTD or now known to us as shell shock. Being in a foreign place where death is adamant, life really seems depressing. The latest technology in the field of medicine is the virtual reality computer program that helps treat our war veterans to deal with the painful memory of war. According to report, this repetitive computer scenario enables soldiers with PSTD to unlock and then discuss troubling war experience in their past.
