One of the basic human needs is security and belongingness, that’s why people long for companionship. It may be one of the reasons why we feel heartbroken whenever one of our friends, family and loved ones become ill or pass away. It’s also the same reason why some parents become over protective of their children’s safety. It is the same reason, why my best friend is still living now. We all thought that she had leptospirosis. The symptoms were the same, flu, severe headache, jaundice, rashes and chilling. She was rushed to the hospital and the doctor was hesitant to give her treatment because they said the incubation period would be four days and they should wait for the result of the laboratories. Hadn’t her mom become too persistent to give her the necessary treatment she might have kicked the bucket. Considering the constant rainfall nowadays, we should all be careful in hitting the street, especially the flood water. Who knows, they might just be contaminated.
